The Atlanta economy made significant headway towards a recovery in 2013. The Bureau of
Labor Statistics reported that unemployment in the Atlanta metro area ended the month of November at 7.0% as Atlanta gained approximately 52,700 non-farm jobs during the first eleven months of the year. Despite overall job gains in metro Atlanta, the manufacturing sector lost approximately 400 jobs from January to November of 2013. The trade, transportation and utilities sectors continued to improve adding 5,700 jobs over the same time period.
