Alberta’s economy continues to be one of the top performers in the country. In the month of February, the province gained 4,200 jobs and employment was up 2.5% from the year before. Unemployment rates remain steady at 4.5% provincially versus 7.0% nationally. Alberta’s YTD population increased by 3,931; a 3.0% increase from the previous year. The price of oil remained steady around $95.00/bbl. CPI inflation was at in January, down from 0.0% in December, and by February it was up to 1.2%. The Canadian dollar at the end of the quarter was slightly below parity trading at $0.98.
